What is the problem with children driving cars. Where I grew up as soon as you could reach the pedals you could drive. Given it was in a 40 acre of nothing field where the only thing you could hit a lone corn stalk. I was driving a really old shitty Caprice ex-cop car at 10 (2005). I recall my dad setting up hay bales as “traffic cones”. The 40 acre sand box also taught me how to do great doughnuts, and how to drift.

I think it has more to do with the “public streets”.

I drove down residential streets in my dad’s Accord. Mainly he did the driving but at least he made me feel like I was.

Seconding Pat. Letting kids drive on private property is fine. Letting them do it on public streets is not.

The FP see’s it as even on private property is a bad thing.

Nah. I was driving go-carts and scooters when I was 9 or 10 in parking lots. I only injured two people.

It’s harmless.

The whole thing is stupid. “A parent let their kid break the rules? I know, let’s arrest them, seperate them from their child, and potentially cause emotional trauma for both, because driving is only a skill for the olders; no one below the age of 16 could possibly understand it!”

I’m personally certain that kid is a better driver than 100% of mustang drivers.

Luckily when most of us were growing up, our parents didn’t have the capability to immediately broadcast any questionable decisions to the whole Interweb. Why people continue to act surprised by inevitable backlash when posting videos of themselves taking part in illegal activity is beyond me.

“Internet people” are whiny. It’s why I stopped going on the front page.
